It is important to point out that the group Il Novecento, formed towards 1922 by Leonardo Dudreville, Achille Funi, Anselmo Bucci, Piero Marussig, Ubaldo Oppi, Mario Sironi and Emilio Maleaba was brief, due to the fact that towards 1924, it was already dispersed. As Cristina Rossi points out, although brief, to Sarfatti this experience would allow him to show that he could contribute to the political and cultural legitimization of the fascist nation, anticipating Mussolini himself. In 1926 Sarfatti meets again with the group under the name of Novecento Italiano which now includes artists from the first group and new ones as well such as Adolf Wildt, Arturo Martini, Carlo Carrà, Felice Casorati, Massimo Campigli, among others.
