The Asociación Arte Nuevo (New Art Association) was founded in 1955 on the initiative of Carmelo Arden Quin and art critic Aldo Pellegrini. Its purpose was to investigate and diffuse abstract art. It periodically published bulletins until 1958 and, between 1955 and 1960, it organised the Salones Arte Nuevo (New Art Salons) that were originally dominated by constructive abstraction and in its latest editions accepted a majority of informalist works.
