Counterpointing his suburban landscapes, Berni documented the various geographies that surrounded him. So did the Paraná river cliffs show up, and the arid plains of Santiago del Estero, the spiny woods in Chaco, the lagoons and swamps in the boundaries of towns. In the ‘60s he retrieved collage for these sceneries and he added on an ostensible gestuality in his production. With this treatment he emphasized expression and accompanied the social drama, which he would render explicit through human presence.
