El gusano triunfador or El triunfo de la muerte, 1965

Venturing into the art of the object, initiated in Argentina towards 1960, Berni produced large constructions performed with most various elements. Exhibited at the Instituto Di Tella in 1965, the works made up two nucleuses: Los monstruos del infierno se disputan a Ramona (The Monsters of Hell Dispute Over Ramona) and Monstruos cósmicos (Cosmic Monsters). La voracidad (Voracity) and La hipocresía (Hypocrisy) literally tear the character to pieces in the first one; in the second one, La sordidez (Squalor), El pájaro amenazador (Threatening Bird) and El gusano triunfador (Triumphant worm), lie in wait for humankind.
