This dossier covers forty years of Norberto Gómez’s work, from his minimalist constructions of 1966 and 1967 to the anti-monuments he produced in polyester and bronze in the nineties. In between, his series of “guts”, organic remains, weapons and “plasters” punctuate a long career that has enriched the Argentine art scene.

He starts attending the workshops sponsored by the Communist Party, where he finds teachers such as Juan Carlos Castagnino and Antonio Berni, amongst others. One of the venues was on Defensa Street (on the corner with Brasil), and a number of young people took courses or lived temporarily in it. Gómez has said that he used the place in order to stay in Buenos Aires and continue with his work, as he did not agree with the teaching. There, too, he meets Enrique Aguirrezabala, Jesús and Alejandro Marcos and Oscar Bony, who at the time resided in another of the CP’s workshops, which was situated on Saavedra street.
