Published by Centro Editor de América Latina in Pintores Argentinos del siglo XX, appeared Berni by Rosa María Ravera and, in the same collection but dedicated to his engraving work, Berni by Alberto Collazo.
Berni painted Mutilación, a work in which he represented a derided, aching, tortured body, in the figure of a terribly injured woman, reaching amputation, placed in an interior that reminds the luminous, strange rooms with oversized objects by surrealist René Magritte.
He took part in Arte argentino contemporáneo at the Metropolitan Art Museum of Tokyo, a show presented in the frame of the 13th International Art Exhibition. Tokyo Biennale '80, sending Juanito ciruja (1978) and La gallina ciega (1973), the latter reproduced in the catalog’s cover.
