His daughter Lily was born. He exposed at the Salon des Indépendents in Paris. After the coup d’état which overthrew president Hipólito Yrigoyen in Buenos Aires, Berni was deprived of the fellowship awarded by the government of Santa Fe and he decided to return with his family and settle in his grandparents’ small farm in Roldán.
To this year belongs Napoleón III, work in which decontextualized elements appear, performed in diverse scales, and a human figure is treated just as one more object. The illusionism and the placement of shapes over a slanted plane cause a significant visual unstableness. The ambiance of perverse estrangement created by this type of images is typical of the surrealist aesthetics.
