The dossier on Juan Carlos Distéfano spans from the time of his beginnings
as a painter to his recent works as a sculptor, a first for the CVAA. It covers
over forty years of his work and his commitment to art and reality. A special section offers a view on his work as a graphic designer, which he carried out mostly at the Di Tella Institute.

Guido Reni. Cleopatra con el aspid
Guido Reni. Cleopatra with the asp, c. 1628

As a teenager, he is bedazzled by a splendid, naked Cleopatra, about to be bitten by the asp. It is a copy of a famous painting done by man from Tapiales, Ángel Podestá, who earned a living thanks to commissions like that one and who would become his drawing teacher. Podestá would later give him lessons in a cabin on a thistle prairie, which was his home.
