This dossier covers forty years of Norberto Gómez’s work, from his minimalist constructions of 1966 and 1967 to the anti-monuments he produced in polyester and bronze in the nineties. In between, his series of “guts”, organic remains, weapons and “plasters” punctuate a long career that has enriched the Argentine art scene.

Along with Berni, Noé, de la Vega, Benedit, Grippo, Distéfano, Suárez, Elía, Schvartz and the phographers Adriana Lestido and Marcos López, he is chosen to represent Argentine art at the exhibition Otro mirar (“Another Look”), organised by the Departamento de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, at the Centro D’Art Santa Mónica, in Barcelona. He shows Monstrance, Whip and Untitled (original), two big polyester pieces belonging to the Museo Sívori, and Grill I and Wires. In an interview featured in the catalogue, Gómez declares:
I like to disconcert the viewer, to move him, to make him experience emotion, draw him in, involve him (...) We must teach to see, to smile, we must strive to make what we do more or less approachable for everyone: we are always explaining to ourselves what art is. I think I don’t fully know, I’m always explaining it to myself, I try to find an explanation. Nota 26
