In February he exhibited, at Galerie Creuze, Paris, a set of paintings about Santiago del Estero, Desocupados and suburban landscapes. Louis Aragon prefaced the catalog, pointing, “...Berni’s painting is totally inhabited by the re-invention of color and composition: but here, whether proposed or solved problems, even when they are painting problems, are subordinated to what it will be said, to the problems of life and, if those problems are born again, it is for aesthetic quality to be subdued, to make it serve men, not to detach from them. Those men and women that Berni’s art nominates and brings into the consciousness of others...”
Also in Paris he took part with El prisionero encadenado in the Homenaje de los artistas españoles a Antonio Machado, performed at the Maison de la Pensée.
