La vida feliz, 1959. The mural as it looked before the building’s reformation

By late April he inaugurated a personal show at Galería Van Riel. There, in addition to La Res and some of his "materic" landscapes, he presented La boda, later known as El casamiento de Ramona, a piece in which collage became meaningful as the bride’s veil was represented with a plastic tablecloth imitating lace. The introduction of materials simulating a purported luxury and the voluptuous physical type of the protagonist prefigured Ramona Montiel’s outstanding features.
Berni took part in the Argentine submission to the V San Pablo International Art Biennial in Brazil –whose special guest was Juan Del Prete– through La res, three suburban landscapes and a portrait.
He took part in Galería Ross of Rosario’s Exposición inaugural together with Domingo Candia, Castagnino and Soldi; also in the show Los pintores argentinos en LRA Radio Nacional, organized and prefaced by Córdova Iturburu.
