Fortunato Lacámera
Vista del Riachuelo (tríptico), c. 1940

Fortunato Lacámera founds the association of Gente de Artes y Letras Impulso, which is first housed at the artist’s atelier. Vicente Vento, José Luis Menghi and José Desiderio Rosso immediately join him in this venture. Miguel Carlos Victorica is one of the first official members. Later on, Impulso moves to 355 Lamadrid St. In its show rooms we find exhibits of Pettoruti, Victorica, Centurión, Butler, Forner, Castagnino, Spilimbergo and Lucio Fontana, among others. Lacámera directs the institution until his death, in 1951.
The new Nicolás Avellaneda Bridge is inaugurated, an impressive construction of steel and cement considered an important work of engineering of its kind. Located just a few meters from the old bridge, it becomes one of the most important access routes to Capital.
