We are about to venture into the fascinating world of the famed La Boca artists. This dossier reviews the gravitations of the modernization process of Argentine art throughout the last one hundred years, and the role that its growing cultural institutions played along the way. This investigative work has been authored by Florencia Battiti, and assisted by Cintia Mezza.

Gente de Artes y Letras Impulso initiates its activities with a collective exhibit which includes Quinquela Martín, Victorica, Diomede and Lacámera, among other artists residing in La Boca.
On February 23, Gente de Arte de Avellaneda, is founded. Artists of the likes of Batlle Planas, Bellocq, Pompeyo Audivert, Raúl Russo, among others hold their exhibits in its show rooms. Towards 1947, Menghi is designated President.
Miguel Carlos Victorica obtains the Grand Prize Acquisition in the XXXI Salón Nacional de Bellas Artes for his oil Cocina bohemia (Bohemian cuisine). To celebrate, on October 19, “as of 7 p.m., a music band paraded around La Boca inviting its neighbors to gather in front of the artist’s studio. A luxurious carriage provided by a local funeral home picked up Victorica who was joined by Quinquela and Lacámera. They went passed Impulso preceded by a large crowd that included people carrying burning torches, a group of Boy Scouts and a fire truck. They finally ended their parade at the local Volunteer
