We are about to venture into the fascinating world of the famed La Boca artists. This dossier reviews the gravitations of the modernization process of Argentine art throughout the last one hundred years, and the role that its growing cultural institutions played along the way. This investigative work has been authored by Florencia Battiti, and assisted by Cintia Mezza.

In 1960 the II Bermellón Group is created, made up of eleven artists (Abal, Beloso, Blanco Piñeyro, De Simona, Di Stéfano, Gaeta, González Lázara, Lagna, Menaglio, Menghi and Price). Menaglio tells us: “we were united by our mutual respect, without limitations or esthetical problems, there were figurative, abstract, and geometric artists; we all gathered in a state of ‘pure democracy’”.
This year the old Nicolás Avellaneda Transporter Bridge is deactivated and placed out of use. In 1994, after city authorities ordered its destruction, the neighbors of La Boca and Porteño legislators recognize its patrimonial and emblematic importance, and prevent its disappearance.
