Encouraged by journalist and historiographer Rodolfo Puiggrós, who was performing a research on the mafia and white female traffic in Rosario, Berni took photographs in the brothels of Pichincha Street. These illustrated the article published in his town’s newspaper Crónica.
Photography, whether taken straightly by himself or clipped from newspapers and magazines or furnished by graphic archives of several publications, have made, articulated with numerous preliminary drawings, a frequent working method throughout Berni’s artistic career.
In June he exhibited surrealist works in Amigos del Arte of Buenos Aires. In the show were included
