The dossier on Juan Carlos Distéfano spans from the time of his beginnings
as a painter to his recent works as a sculptor, a first for the CVAA. It covers
over forty years of his work and his commitment to art and reality. A special section offers a view on his work as a graphic designer, which he carried out mostly at the Di Tella Institute.

Procedure, 1972

Procedure –inspired by a Descent by Pietro Lorenzetti– and Giallo (Yellow), a title taken from an Italian expression meaning both crime film as a genre and the tabloid press, are from this year. This colour also stresses the flames that burn the figure. In these works, the torture that the bodies are subjected to is explicit. However, with an austerity that accentuates it, he exposes the disseminated violence in the convulsed contemporary world, in particular, of a history very close to the Argentine people. With Yellow and a drawing in pencil of Procedure, he participates in the show El desnudo, siglos XIX y XX, organised by the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires.
