We are about to venture into the fascinating world of the famed La Boca artists. This dossier reviews the gravitations of the modernization process of Argentine art throughout the last one hundred years, and the role that its growing cultural institutions played along the way. This investigative work has been authored by Florencia Battiti, and assisted by Cintia Mezza.

El Ancla (The anchor) is founded. It was the first publication of La Boca, directed by J. A. Pisan. This short lived publication only lasted twelve editions. In Antonio J. Bucihs’s own words: “El Ancla reflects the illustration of the nature and tendency of an embryonic society which is sketching its boundaries”.
On July 9, the Sociedad de Progreso de La Boca, also known as the Club Progreso, inaugurates an exhibit by Martín L. Boneo, one of the founders and star players of El Ateneo and the Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes.
