This page offers a panorama of Argentine visual art during the 20 th Century. It comprises a brief overview across the period through twelve paradigmatic works, a chronology which shows the main artistic events of the period and a scheme presenting the various groups and trends supported by illustrations.

(A song to work)
placed in its present location
1922
Rogelio Yrurtia's allegorical group, Canto al trabajo, is inaugurated. Acquired by the City of Buenos Aires, it is placed in 1927 in Plaza Dorrego. Ten years later, it is transferred to its present location on Paseo Colón Avenue between Estados Unidos Street and Independencia Avenue.
The publishing of Proa magazine and the supplement La Protesta, in which Atalaya writes, begins. The book Apuntes para la historia de nuestra pintura y escultura (Notes for the history of our paiting and sculpture) also appears, written by the critic José María Lozano Mouján.
Riganelli obtains the First Sculpture Prize at the XII Salón Nacional and travells to Europe.
