He sets up his atelier close to Tibidabo. In spite of the grief caused by the exile and the situation the country is going through, it is a time of much creativity and research. Romantic Catalan sculpture will be the object of his investigation.
He travels around Spain, France and Italy. During this time, he makes a larger version of King and Queen, in which the references to Egyptian statuary are maintained. He also produces On a Road l, Self-portrait, Yellow Head, Jump and two versions of Icarus in different positions. These works have their counterparts in fine drawings, most times as previous studies and, in some occasions, parallel to the sculptures as later plastic reflections that give privilege to some aspect of the figure.
