El Bohemio (The Bohemian),appears in the month of June, a Boquense newspaper with a Mazzinian spirit directed by Atilio Massone, who had left Italy due to his republican ideas. He settled in La Boca in 1889. El Bohemio changes its name twice: in 1893 it becomes El faro del Riachuelo (The lighthouse of the Riachuelo) and in 1897 El Riachuelo.
Cristóforo Colombo (Christopher Columbus),appears on November 27, a bi-lingual publication (Italian-Spanish), directed by Father Esteban Bourlot. It is a weekly magazine of religious and literary content which is printed in the San Juan Evangelista Church. Bartolomé Peri, member of one of the most traditional catholic families in La Boca, is its administrator.
A group of experienced and amateur artists create La Colmena Artística (The Artistic Hive). According to José León Pagano and Eduardo Schiaffino, Decoroso Bonifanti –a contemporary of Alfredo Lazzari– is one of its members, among mostly Spanish and Italian immigrants.
