The Progreso newspaper is first printed in La Boca, a full blast socialist and anarchist publication. During its beginnings it is directed by Florencio Matteucci, who is then succeeded in 1903 by Antonio Zaccagnini. According to Bucich, during the elections campaign that voted Alfredo Palacios as a national deputy, the Progreso newspaper was published free of charge in order to back this socialist candidate.
