We are about to venture into the fascinating world of the famed La Boca artists. This dossier reviews the gravitations of the modernization process of Argentine art throughout the last one hundred years, and the role that its growing cultural institutions played along the way. This investigative work has been authored by Florencia Battiti, and assisted by Cintia Mezza.

Escuela Pedro de Mendoza
Pedro de Mendoza school in 1936
 
The school-museum “Pedro de Mendoza” is inaugurated at the site donated by Quinquela Martín. A day care center and a kindergarten are founded, together with the Instituto Odontológico Infantil (Children´s Dental Center). The Teatro de la Ribera is also built. In 1943 the classrooms are baptized with names of Argentine painters.
Quinquela donates his painting Crepúsculo (Twilight) to the Museo de Bellas Artes de La Boca.
Eugenio Daneri receives the First Prize at the Salón de Artistas Noveles de La Boca for his work Cabeza de Mujer (Head of a woman).
The Salón de Artistas de La Boca starts. Miguel Diomede is awarded this first edition. Future winners include: José Desiderio Rosso, Delia Bucich and Orlando Stagnaro among others.
