This page offers a panorama of Argentine visual art during the 20 th Century. It comprises a brief overview across the period through twelve paradigmatic works, a chronology which shows the main artistic events of the period and a scheme presenting the various groups and trends supported by illustrations.

Amigos del Arte shows the work that Juan Del Prete had done in Paris. It is the first exhibition of abstract painting and collages in Argentina. The following year Del Prete, in the same institution, exhibits the first examples of abstract sculptures.
David Alfaro Siqueiros visits Argentina and, together with the Equipo Polígrafo (Berni, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Lino Enea Spilimbergo and Enrique Lázaro), paints Ejercicio Plástico, a mural in the villa of Natalio Botana, director of Crítica newspaper.
Facio Hebequer publishes Tu historia compañero, a portfolio that sets a landmark in the history of local engraving.
The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes opens its new premises –which were remodeled by Alejandro Bustillo– in the old water-works pump building on del Libertador Avenue.
