Berni obtains the 2nd. Acquisition Prize "Municipalidad de la Capital Federal " with Chacareros at the XXVI Salón Nacional. The work is a large canvas whose social topic begins in 1934 with works such as Manifestación and Desocupados. Under the influence of the Spanish Civil War outbreak, he paints Medianoche en el mundo. Other artists also touch on the subject: Sibellino with Rebelde (1938), La viuda and Dolor de España (both sculptured in 1939) and Forner with Mujeres del mundo (1938), the picture that launched her Serie de España.
Batlle Planas produces his Radiografías paranoicas from automatic drawings, a surrealist method that he adopts in 1930.
The Museo Escuela "Pedro de Mendoza" is inaugurated on lands donated by Quinquela. In 1938, Quinquela's workshop and the Museo de Bellas Artes de La Boca are opened to the public.
