This page offers a panorama of Argentine visual art during the 20 th Century. It comprises a brief overview across the period through twelve paradigmatic works, a chronology which shows the main artistic events of the period and a scheme presenting the various groups and trends supported by illustrations.

The Cayc Group (Bedel, Benedit, González Mir, Grippo, Maler, Marotta, Portillos, Testa and Glusberg) obtains the São Paulo Biennial Grand Prix.
The Realismos en Argentina exhibition is curated by Elena Oliveras. The show includes Carlos Alonso, Alvaro, Arnaiz, Berni, Bony, Burton, De Marziani, Garabito, Giuffré, Pont Verges, Sbernini and Seguí. Dowek, Pablo Suárez, Renzi, Donnini, Eguía and Zelaya, among others, also work on this line that extended from photographic to metaphorical realism.
The Grupo Grabas (Graphic Artists of Buenos Aires) is dissolved after having operated since 1970. Its members, Camporeale, Cugat, Obelar and Zelaya also turn to various aspects of realistic painting.
