The dossier on Juan Carlos Distéfano spans from the time of his beginnings
as a painter to his recent works as a sculptor, a first for the CVAA. It covers
over forty years of his work and his commitment to art and reality. A special section offers a view on his work as a graphic designer, which he carried out mostly at the Di Tella Institute.

Iommi, Renart, Distéfano, Audivert y Puente
Enio Iommi, Emilio Renart, Juan Carlos Distéfano, Eduardo Audivert and Alejandro Puente during the opening of the show Emilio Renart, Multimágenes in Ruth Benzacar gallery, 1989.

In May, along with Macció’s, Le Parc’s, Aizenberg’s, Greco’s, Hlito’s, Minujín’s, Ocampo’s, Guillermo Roux’s, Seguí’s and Edgardo Giménez’, his work participates in the show Homenaje a Romero Brest (Tribute to Romero Brest), held in Fundación Pettoruti.
During the month of August, when he is selected by the Comisión de Arte Argentino en la Casa de Gobierno –especially created in order to deploy works in the Pink House–, he rejects the offer for ethical reasons, reasons which will take him to repudiate the pardon given by President Menem to the military responsible for the last dictatorship and its crimes. Another twenty-four artists had been invited, including Carlos Alonso, Rogelio Polesello, Jorge Demirjián, Carlos Gorriarena, Ricardo Carpani, Nicolás García Uriburu, Clorindo Testa, Kenneth Kemble, Luis Felipe Noé, Josefina Robirosa, Ary Brizzi, Marta Minujín, Alejandro Puente, Alfredo Hlito and Enio Iommi; the latter two refuse to participate, as well.Nota 22
